I've always needed to make things. Creativity has followed me through different chapters of my life, sometimes at the center and sometimes squeezed into whatever space I could find for it.

Ceramics was part of my life from elementary school through high school. When I started college, I had to leave my creative hobbies behind. Years later, I was laid off right before Christmas and found myself heading into the dark, cold months of winter without a job or much reason to leave the house. I signed up for a pottery class simply because I knew I needed to socialize and something creative to do. A few classes later, I was hooked all over again. Within a year, I had my own wheel and kiln.

These days, pottery is the creative counterpoint to my full-time day job. After hours spent at a computer, there is something grounding about working in the studio with a material I can feel and shape with my hands. No screens, just my hands in the mud and the wonderfully unpredictable process of turning clay into something useful.

From my home studio in Oregon, I make small-batch, functional ceramics full of color, character, and a good bit of sparkle. Each piece is shaped, refined, glazed, and finished by hand. The process is slow, imperfect, and that's a big part of what I love about it.

No two pieces come out exactly alike. I like to think of them as sisters, not twins. They have a shared history, but each has its own quirks and personality.

I believe the objects we use every day can turn ordinary routines into meaningful rituals. A favorite mug, a vase filled with flowers, or a little dish that catches the things you set down at the end of the day can bring personality and joy to familiar moments. The things that make us happy shouldn't be saved for special occasions.
